FAST FACTS:
SdKfz 6 was a halftrack tractor designed for hauling artillery pieces and other kind of loads up to 5 metric tons. It was developed by Büssing NAG company. First production batch appeared probably already in 1935 but the final design vehicles came into production in 1939. There were two official armed modifications of this vehicle.
The first one was the SdKfz 6/2 armed with 37 mm anti-aircraft gun FlaK 36. Although it was an AA gun, it could also engage ground targets, even armored. The vehicle weighted 10,4 tons and could achieve a top speed of about 50 km/h. SdKfz 6/2 was manned by a crew of seven.
The second armed version was introduced in 1941 as SdKfz 6/3. This halftrack carried a 76,2 mm ex-soviet F-22 gun. It was a war-trophy gun which was deployed by Germans quite often because of its good anti-tank parameters. Only 9 SdKfz 6/3 were ever produced and all of them were sent to north African battlefield. SdKfz 6/3 is sometimes mistakenly called Diana.
